INFORMATION OF INTEREST Abadal Selecció 2011
Colour: Very intense black cherry colour.
Aroma: Complex aromas with the freshness of violets associated mainly with Syrah, the red fruit, cherry, redcurrant and plum jam taste of Cabernet Sauvignon and the blueberry confiture and toffee flavours of Cabernet Franc. The overall effect is harmonious, and combines the subtle freshness of flowers and fresh fruit with a potent, rounded base of ripe fruit with woody notes and traces of balsam (menthol liquorice), typical of bottle-aged wines of the region.
Taste: Immediately evident in the mouth is the wines exceptional structure, a structure furnished by its balanced acidity combined with hard but ripe tannins that express the cold clays of our region. With an oily and pleasant volume that agreeably envelops the more aggressive components of the wine, the result is a meaty wine, full of sensations, with a lengthy aftertaste. Although the wine is suitable for putting down, its apparent pleasantness will surprise those who open it this year.
This is a perfect wine to serve with game meats, beef or those types more fibrous or hard as it can be an entrecote.
The 2007 vintage surprises with the incorporation of two native varieties in the blend: Sumoll and Mandó. This incorporation draws the selection even closer to the identity of our territory where there is room for perfectly adapted international varieties and native varieties that were once the strenght of wine growing in our region.
