The wine culture of the geographical demarcation of this Denomination of Origin is ancestral, finding its roots in the Phoenicians, who introduced the first wine vines in the territory. Over the centuries, the winemaking activity has increased and consolidated its presence in the province, extraordinarily consolidating the commercialization of wines recently.
"As for the DO Valencia, its origin dates back to 1932, after the approval of the Wine Statute, becoming one of the most representative and historical appellations of the national wine sector. The DO Valencia was constituted in 1957.
Currently, the viticulture potential of the Valencia Protected Designation of Origin is around 13,000 hectares of vineyards distributed in four production sub-zones: Moscatel, Valentino, Clariano and Alto Turia. The main varieties are Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell, in reds, and Moscatel, Meseguera and Macabeo, in whites. "
