Colour

Golden yellow with gold highlights.

AROMA:

Intense, aromas of aging, wood, toasted, roasted, barrel, together with notes of fruit, baked applesauce, light memories of chamomile infusions.

TASTE:

Alive, with flavor, it is a wine with personality, full-bodied, notes of its stay in wood, ripe tropical fruit with smoked, roasted, cocoa. Reserve white wine, dry and long finish, complex, persistent.

For dishes with gustatory force, Soupy rice, dishes with white meat, a magnificent "Mar i muntanya" (chicken with scampi). Even cured or semi-cured cheeses.
It is a wine aged in American oak barrels with Chardonnay and Macabeo grapes.

Right next to the historic center of Capmany are the Santamaria wineries. The beginnings of this family business are around the year 1877, when Gregori Artizà obtained the medal of perfection at the National Wine Exhibition. On the farm you can visit two aging cellars, one in the Romanesque-Gothic style from the 16th century and the other from the beginning of the last century, as well as a museum that conserves old family utensils and all kinds of documentation, such as example the writing of 1879 in which the civil governor of Girona appoints Gregori Artizà in charge of the surveillance and recognition of the phylloxera in the province. The winery, which has produced the Gran Recosind since 1980, has been a pioneer in introducing aging in
oak wood in the DO Empordà.

In 1955, Francisco Santamaria Cusí reformed the winery, installing the first horizontal press in Catalonia. In 1980 the Gran Recosind was born, the first aged wine from the Empordà, vintage 1974. Since then, they have only produced noble aging and reserves. History is in the small family museum, today with Xavier Santamaria, the fifth generation in charge. Today it is considered the most "classic" winery in Empordà.
