WHO CAN CONTRACT
BODEGAS DE EN GUILLA, is one of the new projects that has best taken root in the DO Emprdà. It was born from the initiative of Marti Vallès and Assumpta Bohigas, who have added the illusion of many friends and have opted for old vines of autochthonous varieties, with Cariñenas over 60 years old, vines from Macabeo of 30 years old and different old vines from Garnacha white, red and black.
The name of the winery refers to the parcel.la de La Guilla, where they have the vineyards of Garriguella. The original name was La Isla, because when it rained the plot was isolated by the water, but the terminology drifted over the years to conversations in La Guilla. Its wine tourism project stands out, which includes a tasting room in the old stone house integrated into the winery, a modern store with a bar, a rental property with a pool next to the winery and a magnificent terrace with panoramic views.
The technical direction is shared between Martí Vallès, who had started a winery in Penedès between 1994 and 2006, and Jordi Esteve, a winemaker from Girona who returned from a long journey through different wine regions of the world, with stays in Italy , Chile and California. Together they made expressive wines from the land and with their own personality, which are already obtaining the first international recognition. In their commitment to sweet wines, since 2011 they have been starting a red Grenache solera in old French oak and sherry barrels, as well as different tests of oxidative aging in demijohns exposed to the sun.
