INFORMATION OF INTEREST Red Clos d'Agon 2003
Colour: Clean, clear and bright. Cherry color with violet edges, with good layer intensity and very pleasant to look at.
Aroma: On the nose, it shows all the empordans character inside the cup. It is presented frankly, directly and with very good complexity. Aromas of red and black fruits, with spicy touches, Mediterranean herbs, in which rosemary and thyme stand out, and with more aniseed notes, though, with much more subtlety they manage to merge with a perfect harmony with the roasted and smoked notes so characteristics of its aging in French oak barrels.
Taste: From the mouth, it is presented with the same openness and sincerity as in the nose. Good entry, with very elegant and fine travel. Good presence of fruit paired with acidity that makes it bring a lot of freshness in the wine. Mature and integrated tannins with a long finish and very good persistence.
Perfect with Iberian bellota ham, sheep cheeses, cold meats, grilled red meats and spoon dishes where the taste power is ideal.
The Clos d'Agon - Mas Gil winery produces this coupage of Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon together with a small proportion of other varieties. The vineyards grow on the Costa Brava (Girona) within the D.O. Catalunya The fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks. The aging of this red wine is done in French oak barrels for 18 months. Peter Sisseck, a Danish winemaker known for his great creations such as Pingus or PSI, oversees the production of the wines in this winery, from vintage to bottling.
