WHO CAN CONTRACT
Tilenus began with the recovery of old vineyards more than 10 years ago in nearby towns such as Pieros, Valtuille or Villafranca del Bierzo. Little by little, those responsible for the winery fell in love with small payments that they acquired until they acquired a total of 40 hectares, which is the amount of vineyard, some of them even centuries old, that they currently own.
In this area, the harvest can only be done by hand, since there is not enough space for tractors and the slopes are too steep for them. Each strain has a limited yield below 1.2 kilograms. The harvest is also carried out in small perforated boxes of 10 to 15 kg so that the bunches arrive whole and in perfect condition at the selection table.
THE WINERY:
The winery sits on an old dairy that was restored combining stone and slate from the Bierzo area with wood to be in line with the traditional architecture of the area.
Currently the winery belongs to the MGWines Group, which also owns other wineries presented on our website such as Lavia or Sierra Salinas. The philosophy of this group highlights the effort to rescue areas and varieties of grapes that in many cases are even unknown to the general public, which is why the Tilenus project adapts perfectly to its DNA. Currently, the person in charge of the winery is Carlos García and the winemaker and technical director is Raúl Pérez, who is in charge of supervising the evolution of the wines and determining the optimal moment of balance in them.
