The cultivation of the vine was not the main activity but rather a hobby. The Ladoucette and Lafond were banking families, having been some members of the Bank of France governor, the leading bank in the country at that time. In 1972 Baron Patrick de Ladoucette was the first devoted exclusively to the career of wine and implement a series of investments in order to increase the relevance and diversity of wine-growing properties.
The leitmotif of their investments was able to produce the best white wines from three major strains of high quality. Indeed, in France, as each vineyard a single strain, and then it exclusively, it was necessary to implant in the regions where these varieties of grapes were grown and had the best historically and quality characteristics. In France every major wine region grows a strain that is specific to it: in Chablis, Chardonnay, in Pouilly and Sancerre, the white Sauvignon; in Vouvray, the Chenin. Baron de Ladoucette it was necessary, therefore, be established in every major region of these vineyards, and this is the reason why, nowadays, every one of its properties a type of wine produced specific and unique.
