Pazo de Villarei growing Albariño performed in 81 acres of vineyards in some 20 years, located on the banks of the Unia. They have the Guillermo Alvarado winemaker strives to create wines unique expression in the purest tradition of the area. The vineyards vine grown well to control moisture and allows adequate vegetative evolution of strains and better ripening. In this area the climate is temperate and humid, with shallow sandy soils that create an ideal microclimate for the production of this wine.

The Empordà appellation of origin is located in the northeastern part of Catalonia. The territory is distributed between two counties and 55 municipalities. 35 municipalities belong to the Alt Empordà and 20 are in the Baix Empordà. The average annual production is 65,000 hectoliters of wine with a planted vineyard area of approximately 2,000 hectares. At the beginning the appellation was called Empordà-Costa Brava, in 2006 the indication Costa Brava was eliminated.
