WHO CAN CONTRACT
Gramona is the union of two families linked to the world of wine: Batlle and Gramona . The first were a family of winegrowers and winemakers established in Sant Sadurní. The latter, trained as winemakers in the early twentieth century, have given name to the company, today considered one of the most prestigious in the world of cava. Currently, it is the fifth generation of the Gramona - Batlle, Jaume and Xavier, responsible for managing the winery and continue to develop in the traditional champagne method, passing from generation to generation, the love of the land and the vine of their ancestors. His last step was the modernization of the Celler Batlle, making it a futuristic cellar built under the vines, with capacity to further develop some of the finest champagnes and wines from Spain. The Empordà appellation of origin is located in the northeastern part of Catalonia. The territory is distributed between two counties and 55 municipalities. 35 municipalities belong to the Alt Empordà and 20 are in the Baix Empordà. The average annual production is 65,000 hectoliters of wine with a planted vineyard area of approximately 2,000 hectares. At the beginning the appellation was called Empordà-Costa Brava, in 2006 the indication Costa Brava was eliminated.
