Viña Escarlata has a deep cherry colour in which we begin to distinguish the subtleties typical of long ageing.
Its aroma is truly intense and complex. Initially it evokes notes of ripe plums and toasted nuts, surrounded by hits of roasted red peppers. As it opens up, its aromatic complexity gradually increases and penetrating notes of vanilla and cinnamon can be made out, with a slight balsamic background.
It is full-bodied, velvety, unctuous and long-lasting on the palate. This wine contains a great deal of mature tannins, which will improve over the next 5 years.
The Empordà appellation of origin is located in the northeastern part of Catalonia. The territory is distributed between two counties and 55 municipalities. 35 municipalities belong to the Alt Empordà and 20 are in the Baix Empordà. The average annual production is 65,000 hectoliters of wine with a planted vineyard area of approximately 2,000 hectares. At the beginning the appellation was called Empordà-Costa Brava, in 2006 the indication Costa Brava was eliminated.
