TASTING NOTE
Colour

Intense red cherry colour with purple rim.

AROMA:

Aromatically, it has a very high power, honest and clean nose. Predominant primary fruit notes (black fruit, cassis, and menthol).

TASTE:

During its passage through the mouth it is tasty, very fruity, fresh and balanced, recalls the feeling of wild fruits, berries, along with a touch of fine wood, a wood very well assembled with the final product. It’s persistent in their final on the palate.

MATCHING
This wine, given its provenance, it is essential to test alongside charcuterie dishes more typical of the area and goat and sheep cheeses from the Empordà, as well as with a dish made of contrast such as duck with pears and sweet sausage with white beans.
WHO CAN CONTRACT
The Empordà is a legendary wine region, where the Greeks were the first to introduce the culture of wine and wine around 600 BC. Mas Oller is a historic estate located in the municipality of Torrent, in the Petit Empordà region, with views of the Medas Islands and the walls of Pals, with the land spread around a 17th century farmhouse. In the 1950s, the vineyards and olive trees were uprooted to dedicate themselves to the monoculture of cereal and the intensive exploitation of the herd. However, the old holm oaks, destined to the elaboration of the prestigious stoppers of the region, are preserved. Since the 70s the set belongs to the Esteva family. In 2000, Carlos Esteva - owner of the prestigious Can Ràfols dels Caus winery - decided to rescue the family estate from oblivion, delicately rejuvenating the farmhouse, locating the winery where La Vaquerissa was and replanting vineyards what had been the best Pals wine estate, with the desire to produce new quality wines, starting from the Empordà tradition, but innovating in many details, from the vineyard to the winery. The wines from the first harvests, produced by young vines, were sold in the area. Now, the vines are old enough to produce the concentration of fruit that was sought. Today, almost 400 years after its construction, Mas Oller has become a reference winery in the D.O. Empordà with wines that are made from a philosophy that is committed to uniqueness and the expression of the place where they are born.

Wines reds designation of origin D.O. Empordà
The appellation of Origin Empordà is located on the northern-east of Catalonia. The territory is distributed in two regions and 55 villages. 35 belong to Alt Empordà and the remaining 20 belong to Baix Empodrà. The average annual production reaches the 65000 hectoliters of wine with a planted surface of around 2000 hectares. From its beginnings the denomination was called Empordà-Costa Brava, but in 2006 the indication Costa Brava was deleted.
