The Empordà appellation of origin is located in the northeastern part of Catalonia. The territory is distributed between two counties and 55 municipalities. 35 municipalities belong to the Alt Empordà and 20 are in the Baix Empordà. The average annual production is 65,000 hectoliters of wine with a planted vineyard area of approximately 2,000 hectares. At the beginning the appellation was called Empordà-Costa Brava, in 2006 the indication Costa Brava was eliminated.

This is an amazing red wine. I've been drinking red for about 1 1/2 years and by far, this is my favorite. I purchase it from a wine bar about 50 min. from me, but I would love to be able to purchase this directly.
