WHO CAN CONTRACT
The history of the Château Palmer dates back to 1814, when Colonel Charles Palmer arrived in France with the army of the Duke of Wellington. The owner of the estate in Margaux, (which at that time was known as Château de Gascq) was the recently divorced Mrs. Gascq, who was trying to sell the property. When he met Palmer, he told him that the wine they produced at the Château de Gascq was as good as Château Lafite's wine, with which Colonel Palmer agreed. It was not long until Palemer bought the famous property that he changed the name to Château Palmer. Charles Palmer began to increase the size of the vineyards of the Chteau Palmer. He continued to buy more land up to triple the size of Château Palmer to 80 hectares. Most of the growth took place between 1816 and 1831. The majority of the strains were planted in some of the best terroirs in the denomination located in the sectors of Cantenac, Issan and Margaux.
