Colour

Intense cherry red and bright. Light tonalities.

AROMA:

Expressive, elegant and highly aromatic. Excel pleasant notes of red fruits such as raspberries, blueberries and cranberries. Fund spicy smoked aromas of oxidative aging in oak barrels.

TASTE:

Frank attack, opulent and balanced. Mouth feel sublime, velvety reminiscent of ripe fruit and toasty. And Lingering with a touch of freshness.

This wonder aged 18 to 20 months in oak barrels of which 10% were new. The name comes from the plateau Carruades group of parcels of the best vineyards of the Château, purchased in 1845 by Château Lafite. The name Carruades adopted as the name of the second wine Château Lafite Rothschild, was originally called "Moulin des Carruades" before 1980. The Château's vineyards occupy three main areas: The area around the Château Carruades plateau located immediately to the west, and a plot of 4.5 hectares in the neighboring commune of Saint Estèphe. The total area is 112 hectares, of which 103 are vineyard. This is the land of fine gravel, deep sand mixed with limestone subsoil of tertiary origin, with good drainage and good exposure.
