Colour

Dark red color with garnet hues. Dense upper layer.

AROMA:

Complexity and opulence, where recall candied black fruits, with hints of earthy mineral notes and a wide range of shades such as chocolate and roasted coffee.

TASTE:

Medium bodied with round tannins and ripe. Reminiscent of cassis, cherry and spice notes. Excellent final long and persistent. A Saint-Julien to consider.

Very suitable with dishes like hunting wild boar stew. Suitable for red meat grilled canard confit, lamb or chicken seasoned force.

Chateau Léoville-Poyferré is located on the region of Saint-Julien. The wine, named as the winery, was qualified as one of the 15 Deuxièmes Crus at the Official Wine Classification on 1855. Léoville-Poyferré was part of the even bigger Léoville estate until the French revolution, when it was split between Chateau-Léoville Les Cases and Chateau-Léoville-Barton. In 1940, Chateau-Léoville-Las Cases was once again divided created the Chateau-Léoville-Poyferré. The estate is composed of 90 hectares where the harvested varieties are 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. The soil is graveled with limestone. The famous winemaker Michel Rolland was the winery advisor.
