TASTING NOTE

AROMA:

Opulent and clean. Fragrances cherry and violet, spicy background.

TASTE:

Balanced sweetness, acidity, intense. Pleasant in the mouth, fruity notes outstanding. Final sweet.

MATCHING
Perfect chocolate cake with berry jam, tart tatin with vanilla ice cream or a white chocolate brownie.
WHO CAN CONTRACT
This wine has been aged for 20 years in oak. A character oxidative aging, the wine will bring a very special flavor profile. The 40 hectare Casa de Santa Eufemia estate is situated on the left bank of Portugal’s famous river Douro. The winery was founded in 1894 by Bernardo Rodrigues de Carvalho and is now run the 3ª generation of the Carvalho family. The terraced vineyards are planted on rocky schist, with classic native red and white varieties. The company is proud to share the passion and quality in the wines.

The Empordà appellation of origin is located in the northeastern part of Catalonia. The territory is distributed between two counties and 55 municipalities. 35 municipalities belong to the Alt Empordà and 20 are in the Baix Empordà. The average annual production is 65,000 hectoliters of wine with a planted vineyard area of approximately 2,000 hectares. At the beginning the appellation was called Empordà-Costa Brava, in 2006 the indication Costa Brava was eliminated.
