CELLER GERISENA
Celler Gerisena has made a selection of more than 30 hectares of old mountain vineyards located at the foot of the Albera Natural Park with an average age of 80 years. Vineyards erected on a slate and poor terrain, of little production, about 3,000 kg / ha., Providing extreme quality to the wines.
With a dry Mediterranean climate, where the distinctive feature is the Tramontana, which like a sculptor molds and collides the landscape with its fury, providing its own character to the wines. Respect for the land is standard and that is why we work as our grandparents did, in a respectful way towards the organic vineyard.
Among the varieties, the autochthonous ones of the D.O. Empordà, red varieties: red garnacha and mazuelo and white varieties: white and red garnacha, macabeo and muscatel.
Currently, the winery adapts the Agrícola de Garriguella facilities in order to enjoy the latest technologies to create a micro-vinification area with stainless steel tanks with a capacity from 500 to 10,000 liters, with temperature control systems and inerting systems. with antioxidant gases, as well as a park of new 225 and 500 liter French oak barrels to be able to vinify and age the wines under its brand.
Elaboration:
Vermouth made from liqueur wine obtained from grapes of the red Grenache variety and aged for a minimum of 2 years in oak barrels. The maceration of aromatic herbs, flowers and spices is then carried out for two months, with maiden, gentian, cinnamon and citrus predominating.
Variety: Red Grenache.
Aging: 24 months in oak barrels.
