TASTING NOTE
Colour
Yellow with slightly golden meniscus. Unctuous in agitation. Clean and shiny.
AROMA:
Elegant and measured wood with subtle contributions of yellow fruit, citrus and roasted nuts.
TASTE:
Fleshy on the palate, it shows volume and unctuousness. Very good acidity and silky tannin. Fresh and fruity aftertaste.
MATCHING
Proximity cuisine, dishes as typical as fish stews ( suquets, zarzuelas ), fish baked or in sauces (such as in green sauce, Basque or Donostiarra sauce etc ...)
We could even harmonize it with white meats ( chicken, turkey, rabbit ...) in different preparations and cookings: grilled, grilled, oven, stews ( vegetables, boletus, nuts ).
WHO CAN CONTRACT
In Contino vineyards they coexist in perfect harmony, tradition and innovation. Modern winemaking warehouse, with a selection table and small tanks, adapted to the plots and varieties. Fermentation tanks with reduced capacity collect the production of each plot of the farm individually and, depending on the characteristics of the grape, it will be produced in one way or another.
Openwork from the 16th century keep the wines in the best conditions of temperature and humidity.
In 1973 Contino was born, the first "chateau" of Rioja. Viñedos del Contino forms a complex in which vineyards and wines are integrated, established around an old manor house, in a meander of the Ebro. Its wines are obtained only from the vines planted in its 62 hectares. located in Laserna, lands of Laguardia, in the Rioja Alavesa.
Elaboration:
Cold maceration prior to alcoholic fermentation that takes place at low temperatures in small stainless steel tanks. The must goes to new barrels of 350 and 500 liters of capacity, of French origin, where the alcoholic fermentation ends. 90% of the oak is new and 10% of a use. Aged on its lees, which are removed twice a week up to 8 months.
Grape varieties: 85% Viura, 5% Malvasía, 10% Garnacha Blanca.
Harvest Details: The White Grenache comes from the San Gregorio estate. Planted in 1980 with calcareous clay soil. La Malvasía is selected from the 1930 Las Anchas payment with alluvial, stony and sandy soils. La Viura comes from the alluvial and ancient payment of the Lentisco, the stony San Gregorio La Tabla and the Santa María estate. All with ages between 35 and 40 years.
