Colour

Clean, clear and bright. Dark red with garnet reflections. It has a medium / high layer intensity. Very nice to see.

AROMA:

The presentation on the nose is very marked aromatic density. Expresses notes of cherry and computerized blackberries wrapped in attractive hints of licorice, violets, cocoa and subtle hints of mint.

TASTE:

In mouth with very good volume and great taste. Pass through the palate with fine, well-structured tannins that complement the wine with its full body and character. Long, persistent and very warm finish.

Given the complexity and complexity of the wine, it harmonizes perfectly with dishes of very high taste power. Wild boar, fricandó, pork feet, barbecues with all kinds of meat, sausage of perol with aioli, and of course, is ideal to accompany South African cuisine, where meat and spicy flavors are undoubtedly the great protagonists.

Chocolate Block 2018 is a blend of Syrah (69%), Black Grenache (13%), Cinsault (9%), Cabernet Sauvignon (8%) and Viognier (1%). The effect of the drought has become even more evident,
make the right harvest dates to achieve the best quality of the fruit. The time spent on the vineyard was essential to ensure timely harvesting with optimum phenolic ripening. With even lower than normal yields, the quality was exceptional with very concentrated berries.

Swartland vineyards are recognized for their slate and granite soils, creating
tension and vibration in the wine. The Syrah is still our spine along with the Grenache that gives it the delicate fructuosity and delicacy. The cinsault gives the floral and ripe strawberry notes and the Cabernet Sauvignon gives a good tannic structure and adherence to the blend. Grenache was matured in 600 L barrels to preserve its unmistakable fruity aromas and a pronounced freshness. The wine is ripe for 500 months in 500L French oak barrels before being finely filtered and clarified with egg whites.
