TASTING NOTE
Colour
Clean, clear and bright. Cherry color with garnet reflections. Medium - high layer intensity. Very nice to look at.
AROMA:
First nasal contact with an almost palpable maturity. Highlights a very clear and expressive fruit that melts with spicy touches of pepper, cinnamon and small sparks of coconut.
TASTE:
Extremely silky and balanced on the palate, or creamy and elegant tannins come together to caress your palate. It is the delicacy personified. Long-lasting, friendly and persistent.
WHO CAN CONTRACT
The interest of the García family in Toro began in 1995 with the monitoring of different plots and the carrying out of experimental vinifications. The purpose of these experiences was to achieve wines with structure, elegance and balance.
The different farms are integrated into organic production as a guarantee of sustainable viticulture, and since 2016 biodynamic agriculture guidelines have been incorporated with the aim of contributing more organic matter to the soil, preventing erosion and promoting biodiversity. Three wines are made in the winery: Prima, with a friendlier, fresher and softer style; San Román, exuberant, deep and mineral; and Cartago Paraje del Pozo, a parcel wine with overwhelming personality and elegance.
This year was one of the driest recorded in the last decade, with only a third of rainfall compared to the annual average. The warm character of February and March, together with the general lack of water, brought the cycle forward from bud break, which started ten days earlier than usual. Flowering was quick, with less fruit setting, anticipating a harvest with lower yields. After a very windy summer, which favored the health of the fruit, the harvest started with an unusual earliness, on August 25, in the vineyards of San Román de Hornija.
