TASTING NOTE
Colour

Clean, clear and bright. Cherry color with garnet reflections, and where it has a medium / high layer intensity. Very nice to look at.

AROMA:

Nose entry where we can say that complexity is its main signature. The black and red fruit is expressed in all its strength, where it is evolved with hints of jam. In the minutes, and with the corresponding aeration, the notes of chocolate and coffee perfectly harmonized with the spices, the balsamic notes and the characteristic mineral notes of clackstone powder stand out.

TASTE:

Entry with a very marked power, but with a fresh, silky mouthfeel and a seductively refined texture where it manages to express itself with an indisputable purity and softness. Balanced and harmonious tannins with a long, fresh and persistent finish.

MATCHING
Perfect companion with meat dishes. Beef or pork fillet with pepper sauce, grilled red meats, baked lamb shoulder with potatoes, and perfect with a steak tartare with mustard.
WHO CAN CONTRACT
Casa Casillo is located on the plateau of Jumilla. Its lands occupy the shady area of the Serra del Molar, rising on steep slopes up to 760 meters above sea level. The estate has an area of 402 hectares of which only 150 are dedicated to the vineyard, the rest is used for the cultivation of almond trees, olive trees and the conservation of the mountain and pine forest. The native Monastrell variety occupies 80% of the vineyard, followed by 12% Grenache and 8% Syrah.

At present it is the third generation, with José Mª Vicente at the head, which is in front of the winery. He had begun his architectural studies when, coinciding with the first vintage of the family winery, he abandoned his initial plans to dedicate himself fully to the world of wine. Restless and self-taught, his learning took place between France, Italy, Germany and Portugal. In these trips he did not look for the big wineries but for the small viticulturists who had an artisanal philosophy.

Casa Castell Peu Franco is the most emblematic wine of the winery and one of the wines of the D.O Jumilla best valued by The Wine Advocate magazine. It comes from a single plot (La Solana) in which an old free-standing Monastrell plantation planted in 1941 resists.

The wine is fermented with whole grapes in underground cups with native yeasts. Performs malolactic in large oak barrels. Aged for seventeen months in French oak barrels.
