Colour

Clean, clear and bright. Cherry color with slightly garnet reflections. Medium layer intensity. Very nice to look at.

AROMA:

On the nose, it has a good intensity of aromas of red and black fruits (blueberries, cherries) and sweeter notes of fig jam provided by the passification of the grapes. It is perceived light touches of a very fine and well integrated wood.

TASTE:

Gluttony in its maximum state. Where it has a good intensity of very well balanced fruit. Elegant and very well harmonized tannins. Tasty and persistent finish.

Perfect with rostbeef, fillet with foie gras, Iberian sausages, stews and cured cheeses.

La Freixeneda is named in honor of the 13th century estate owned by the Ferrer family for 18 generations and which the current Honorary President, Josep Ferrer i Sala, has decided to recover as a winery. This is where Josep Buján, chief winemaker for 41 years, comes into play. Buján is now in charge of directing his new projects and the Casa Sala and La Freixeneda wineries.

The first result in the reds section is this confessed homage to the Italian Amarone - in which the grapes are pasteurized - made with Cabernet Sauvignon (70%) and Garnacha (30%), which stays for around 18 months in oak. Croatia without toasting, which is now in its second vintage and is striking for its glass stopper as it is not aged in the bottle.

What is clear is that we are dealing with a wine that must be decanted.
