Colour

Clean, limpid and bright. Garnet color with ruby reflections. With medium / high layer intensity. Very pleasing to the eye.

AROMA:

On the nose it presents very good complexity of aromas. Notes of black and red fruit on a spicy background of black pepper and the sweet touch of vanilla, then, after a few minutes in the glass, elegant floral aromas appear, where it is Violet, which is most strongly expressed.

TASTE:

Very balanced entry into the mouth, marked by a lively acidity that melts together with fine, crisp tannins and a subtle silkiness. With a long finish, very good width and persistence.

A wine with good structure, both for meat and fish. Fish and seafood paella, cod omelette, toast with roasted vegetables and anchovies, entrecote with mushroom sauce, sausages and cheeses.

Oxer has always wanted to make wines in Rioja Alavesa and in 2005 he went to Laguardia convinced of the uniqueness of that area. Convinced of the uniqueness, Oxer invests every penny in buying old parcels.
The vineyards in La Rioja Alavesa are organically worked in regenerative agriculture. Man and mule work the land with great care and respect for the old vineyards. Both the name and the labeling are carried out in an expected detail, from the meaning to the symbolism, expressing it perfectly with its labels that try to express its universe. All the meticulous work in the vineyards and winery ends in elegant and fresh wines.

The name and its striking label express Oxer's admiration for Shakespeare. "Honi soit qui mal y pense" (Disgrace befalls the one who misthinks) comes from the play "The Kingdom of King Edward III".

VINEYARD:

Vineyard of 1 hectare planted in 1919 in the town of Elvillar (Rioja Alavesa) at 600 meters of altitude, in clay-calcareous soil. Old-fashioned mixed plantation of Tempranillo, Viura and Garnacha Blanca, with a yield of 3,000 kg per hectare. 3-hectare vineyard planted in 1903 in Cárdenas (Rioja Alta) at 580 meters of altitude. Clay-ferrous soils with just over 10% stone, giving us low yields, around 2,000 kg per ha.

VINIFICATION:

Spontaneous fermentation with its own yeasts in used 500-liter French oak barrels, in amphoras and in concrete eggs. It performs malolactic fermentation in used barrels. Later aging for 12 months in used French oak barrels.
