WHO CAN CONTRACT
The story of Bodega Contador begins in 1995, when winemaker and winemaker Benjamín Romeo acquires a centennial cave under the castle of San Vicente de la Sonsierra (La Rioja). In 1996, he made the first harvest of his wine "La Cueva del Contador" and began to buy vines for his bodeguero project.
During the following years he carries out winemaking on a minimal scale in the cave and continues to acquire vineyards. In 1999, he made the first vintage of his "Contador" wine.
In the year 2000, after checking the good reception of the market and the specialized media to these first wines, Benjamín decided to dedicate himself exclusively to his personal project.
As every year, to elaborate Contador 2011, an interpretation of the harvest was made according to the climatic year and the state of ripeness of the grapes. According to this interpretation, the vineyards mentioned above were selected because they were the ones that had the bunches that met the optimum characteristics to make our most emblematic wine. This selection is made, above all, seeking the perfect balance between acidity, alcohol content and tannin. The warm climate of the 2011 harvest conditioned us to look for the best vineyards that endured the drought
