Colour

Color black, deep, with violet reflections

AROMA:

Nose dominated by black fruits (cherry and blackcurrant), with fresh notes of mocha and toasted bread.

TASTE:

The attack is delicate, silky and the tannic structure is powerful and balanced. The mouth is dense and very velvety thanks to the maturity and the body of the tannins. The finish is persistent, with fruity notes, although dominated by the quality of the tannins.

By a fortunate and mysterious geological accident, an extensive gravel vein appears in the south western region of the Pomerol plateau. Three vineyards, including L'Évangile, share these unique landscapes. Indeed, the domaine enjoys a privileged location: to the north it borders the vineyards of Château Pétrus and to the south with Cheval Blanc in Saint Émilion, of which only a secondary road separates it.

It reaches the 16 hectares of extension on a sandy-clayey soil with veins of pure gravel and a subsoil rich in ferrous waste. The strains that grow there are Merlot (80%), which provides fruitiness, body and structure, giving the wine its inimitable softness, and Bouchet, name by which the Cabernet Franc (20%) is locally known, which delivers fineness and solidity. The techniques used are completely traditional. Production is limited, while harvesting and numerous other tasks are carried out manually throughout the year.

The management of the vineyard is in the hands of Eric Kohler, technical director of the Bordeaux châteaux, who is assisted in his functions by Jean Pascal Vazart, in charge of exploitation.
