Wines whites Designation of Origin D.O. Conca de Barberà

The DO Conca de Barberà was formed in 1985, has 2,875 ha of vineyards and an average production of 8,000 hl of wine. It is a Catalan region located in the north of the province of Tarragona. The altitudes are mostly between 350 and 900 meters, which means that the wines are fresh and light. It is basically concentrated in the region that owes its geological formation to the erosive action of the Francolí river and its tributary, the Anguera.

In the central area of the Conca there are usually calcareous soils, although they can also be clayey. At the bottom of the Conca de Barberà there are fluvial terraces and in the extreme west we find slate. The climate is transitional Mediterranean, due to the relative proximity to the sea and the continental nature of the Lleida region. It is influenced by humid winds and frosts in the lower parts. The annual rainfall is between 450 and 550 mm. The average temperatures are between 13 and 14 °C. Maximums of 35º C and minimums below 0º C.
