Miniblack by Freixenet is a light, refreshing cava marked by the fruity notes that characterise its flavour as well as its fine, intense aromas. Francesc Ferrer Sala founded in 1861 the Sala House, the first brand of wine exports San Sadurní. His son, John Sala Tubella, continued the business, and after the marriage of his daughter Dolors Sala Vivé with Pere Ferrer Bosch there started in cava business in 1914. From the moment they decided to produce only cava, a natural sparkling wine. Settled their cellars at San Sadurní, a town in the heart of the Penedès region.

The Empordà appellation of origin is located in the northeastern part of Catalonia. The territory is distributed between two counties and 55 municipalities. 35 municipalities belong to the Alt Empordà and 20 are in the Baix Empordà. The average annual production is 65,000 hectoliters of wine with a planted vineyard area of approximately 2,000 hectares. At the beginning the appellation was called Empordà-Costa Brava, in 2006 the indication Costa Brava was eliminated.
