This wine has great colour layer of purple hues. Is made from the grape variety Mazuelo whose origin is in Cariñena.
The nose is a medium to high intensity. Varietals aromas are dominated floral violets and black fruits. Because of its ageing in wood, this wine has also notes of vanilla and spices.
Overall the wine is balanced, structured with plenty of tannins and long persistence in the mouth.
The Empordà appellation of origin is located in the northeastern part of Catalonia. The territory is distributed between two counties and 55 municipalities. 35 municipalities belong to the Alt Empordà and 20 are in the Baix Empordà. The average annual production is 65,000 hectoliters of wine with a planted vineyard area of approximately 2,000 hectares. At the beginning the appellation was called Empordà-Costa Brava, in 2006 the indication Costa Brava was eliminated.
