Salanques
INFORMATION OF INTEREST Salanques 2016
TASTING NOTE
Colour: Clean, clear and bright. Ruby color with violet reflections. High layer intensity. Very pleasing to the eye.
Aroma: In the nose, the complexity of Priorat wines is more than assured. The notes of ripe red fruit (pomegranate, cherries), that blend in with floral and spicy aromas, all marry with mineral notes characteristic of the terroir, stand out.
Taste: Entry into the mouth, where its power, acidity, well integrated and mature tannins, transform it with a wine that is necessary to taste.
MATCHING
Perfect for spoon dishes, game meats, cheeses and roasts.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Salanques is a red wine of DO Priorat, elaborated by the winery Mas Doix. The winery is located in the town of Poboleda (Tarragona), in the northeast of the Priorat.
Salanques is a blend of Garnacha varieties (65%), Carinyena (25%) and Syrah (10%). The grapes come from vineyards planted between 350 and 500m altitude in "Costers de Llicorella", slates typical of the Priorat slate.
The harvest was made by hand and once in the winery the grapes went through a double selection table. Subsequently, fermentation was carried out at a controlled temperature with the system of the submerged hat, that is to say, keeping the solid material of the grapes inside the fermentation mass.
After the winemaking process, the wine was aged for 14 months in new and second-year oak barrels of French oak barrels.
