INFORMATION OF INTEREST Opus One 2011
Colour: Cherry garnet colour with a good layer, bright and clear, very pleasing to the eye.
Aroma: The nose reveals ripe fruit, minerals, roasted notes, cakes and liquorice. It presents very complex aroma, very clean and great potential.
Taste: In the mouth it has volume; it is tasty, with ripe tannins, nice warm, aromatic and balanced. With a dry finish and balsamic.
It's perfect for taking it with red meat dishes, cheeses, grilled vegetables, as well as with meat made to the barbecue, or a bit more elaborate dishes (steak with foie gras and Pedro Ximenez reduction).
The career of Robert Mondavi, compared with that of his colleagues, is dotted by a number of insights fortunate. And there has been less to convince the owner of the Premier Cru Château Mounton Rothschild to acquire a property in the Napa Valley and became his partner in Opus One in 1979. The presence of Baron Philippe de Rothschild in Napa immediately confirmed what Mondavi had been saying for some time, that this region plays an important role in the worldwide wine sector. It produces a single wine, Cabernet Sauvignon almost, but not identified as such. The style is the result of joint work of the Mondavi and of the winemaker Mounton.
