TASTING NOTE
Colour

Clean, clear and bright. Cherry color with garnet reflections, where it has an intensity of medium layer. Very nice to look at.

AROMA:

Nose entry where it offers us a catalog of complex aromas, the notes of wild fruits stand out together with small floral shoots. Expressive mineral character that fuses with the unmistakable spicy notes of oak.

TASTE:

In the mouth, elegance is the undisputed protagonist. Lively and very present acidity that is perfectly dressed by a very present tannic structure. Long, seductive, deep and persistent finish.

MATCHING
Perfect companion with all kinds of meats and sausages. From grilled lamb to the strongest and most complex game meats.
WHO CAN CONTRACT
The Niepoort family has been making Porto wines since 1842. For years, Niepoort has had the collaboration of the Noriega family to make their wines. Since its inception, the winery has tried to unite tradition with modernity. They carry out traditional Portuguese techniques such as the treading of the grapes, the fermentation in cement tanks or the aging in pipes, 550-liter barrels of aging of ports, and at the same time they have new technologies that allow them to work the grapes with great care. It has vineyards in different locations, some over 100 years old, and its Serpa Pinta aging warehouse is in the town of Vila Nova de Gaia.

The Niepoort Batuta harvest is selected in the field and in the winery to ferment only the best bunches. It is vinified in stainless steel tanks, macerating for a long time with the skins but with gentle extractions and it remains in contact with the skins for about 60 days. Finally, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages for 22 months in French oak barrels, 25% new.

Niepoort Batuta is a wine that was first launched in 1999. It is an elegant and powerful Douro wine with great aging potential.

Vinho do Porto is a renowned sweet wine from Portugal, commercialized and consumed all over the world. The name becomes from Porto, city whose port shipped the wines abroad. The vines cultivation is located on the north of the country, previous to the posterior vinification, at the Alto Douro region. The Douro River (Duero) flows between the Marao and Montemuro ranges. Cold winters and dry and hot summers. Nowadays the wines can be aged at the Alto Douro region, but until 1986 the ageing only was permitted at the town of Vilanova de Gaia, close to Porto.
