TASTING NOTE
Colour
An attractive and moderately intense color
AROMA:
Very fresh on the nose, with good fruit.
TASTE:
The wine is direct and fresh in the attack. The middle palate offers a good intensity, without aggressiveness, revealing aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry and currant accompanied by notes of freshly cut flowers such as rose and violet. A discreet touch of wood serves as a backdrop for these intense notes. The finish is pleasantly full of firm tannins.
WHO CAN CONTRACT
e Petit Cheval is the second wine of Château Cheval Blanc.
Until 1832 it belonged to the old fief of Figeac, year in which Ducasse bought the 16 hectares of initial vineyard to Félicité de Carles-Trajet, which had the property almost abandoned. In 1850, the daughter of Ducasse, Henriette, contracted marriage with the heir of the Fourcaud-Laussac and contributed the vineyards as a dowry. They, in 1871, augmented the vineyard to the current 37 hectares. At his death, in 1893, his son Albert Fourcaud-Laussac was the sole owner.
The farm has always been in the hands of this family, until very recently, when the 42 heirs decided to sell it to Bernard Arnault, owner of the LVMH group, and Albert Frére, a Belgian industrialist, for a record number in Bordeaux, which set the price of the hectare in 3.8 million euros.
The Château Cheval Blanc is among the eight largest in Bordeaux, and is probably the one that offers the longest maturity phase. It is considered as the best wine of the denomination Saint Émilion and one of the most recognized in the world.
