Volnay Santenots-du-milieu This is the best part of the Santenots appellation, formerly classed by Dr. Lavalle. In several parcels that Jules Lafon (great-grandfather of Dominique and founder of the estate) bought successively, it is in all 3.8 ha of vines. Exposé East, red clay very shallow, on a subsoil of hard limestone, the site is very solar and early. The average age is above 30 years, the oldest vines are 60 years old, the youngest 3 years old. The wines are very colorful, rich, deep, with tannins present, but beautiful elegance at the end of the mouth. Aromas of black fruits dominate: blackberry, blackcurrant, cherry. More power than in most Volnay, it is a wine of guard (10 to 20 years).
