Château Bélair-Monange, whose origins date back to Roman times, has always been at the top of the Grands Vins de Saint-Émilion. In 2008, Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix purchased this historic site located on the highest point of the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion.
The new team immediately tackled a complete renovation of the vintage. Special attention to the vineyard allowed him to harvest from this first vintage a grape of a very high quality. In memory of Anne-Adèle Monange, mother of Jean-Pierre Moueix and first wife of the family established in Saint-Émilion in 1931, Château Bélair was renamed from the 2008 vintage: Château Bélair-Monange.
In 2012, the National Institute of Appellations of Origin confirms the classification of Castles Magdelaine and Bélair-Monange to the rank of Premiers Grands Crus Classés before ratifying the merger of the two vineyards under a single entity bearing the name of Château Bélair-Monange .
Château Bélair-Monange is produced on the most privileged soils of Saint-Émilion. The limestone plots of the plateau contribute to freshness and minerality; the blue clay of the hillsides brings intensity, length, and a unique elegance to the raw.
