Colour

Clean and bright Red color with ruby highlights and lightly tiled rims. Medium layer intensity. Very nice to look at.

AROMA:

Intensity and a lot of complexity, it is very changeable. The initial and typical notes of some reduction are opened giving way to a beautiful ripe fruit that is the unconditional signature of this producer. All accompanied by a wonderful balsamic background with touches of black pepper and a minerality that makes it majestically elegant.

TASTE:

Very clean, smooth entry, vertebrate by a good and integrated acidity and above all by its broad, long and persistent finish that leaves a fantastic memory of red fruit and spices. Classicism and balance are their identity signatures. The purest Grenache that exists.

Due to the personality of the wine, it will be perfectly accompanied by dishes with full flavor and complexity of taste. It can be accompanied perfectly of cured cheeses, meat dishes with sauces, fish of intense flavor or even salads where the vegetables have all the protoganism.

The winery belongs to the Reynaud family. It was launched by Louis Reynaud, who raised the name of Rayas at the top of the South Rhone. The property was bought by his father, but he was not dedicated to the production of wine. Louis earned some fame, to do things in his own way - call 1st Grand Cru, something that does not exist in the area, or Château, which is much to say about the estate - and for his contempt for the rules and bureaucracy . He died in 1978, saying goodbye to the mythical vintage, to be succeeded by his son Jacques and his sister Françoise.

The last vintage Jacqucks Reynaud made in full was that of 1995, which also became mythical and quoted at astronomical prices, although it also made the harvest and winemaking of 96.
Another distinctive feature of the 'terroir' of Rayas is the sandy soil, without the typical galettes, huge pebbles that cover the vineyards of Châteauneuf. They say that the grandfather of Jacques took them by the hand because they bothered him, and that he said: "Fine earth, fine wine"

The mythical vintage is 1978, 1990 and 1995.
