From vineyards located in the far hills of Duero, in the rio Torto valley, this Porto was bottled unfiltered, as the rest of the family reserve. Issued from wines that were vinified foot trodden in old granite stone “lagares” and aged in old wooden oaks, this unfiltered “Reserve” is bottled only once every year, on the date shown on the label. The Lot Nº indicates the series of the bottling. Lot Nº 09 is the first Port of this style of Van Zellers & Co. to be released. It is a blend of different years with the great majority of the wine in the blend being from the harvest of the second year before the bottling date (i.e, bottling in 2011, base wine in the blend from the 2009 harvest). In this specific case Lot Nº 09’s base wine is 100% from the 2009 vintage. It is bottled unfiltered in the tradition of the best bottle ageing Ports.
