TASTING NOTE
Colour

It is a bright pale yellow wine, with an apparently dense texture.

AROMA:

On the nose, it offers notes of citrus fruits such as grapefruit, and some herbs such as fennel with its characteristic aniseed aroma.

TASTE:

In the mouth it is dense, long and sweet, with an acidity that makes it different from the Verdejos of Rueda, and is due to the acidic and granitic character of its soils. Aged for 8 months in Stockinger foudres, its texture is creamy and silky, with a long finish that will still gain persistence over the years.

MATCHING
It generates a perfect harmony with fish in sauce, white meats, grilled lamb, cheeses and grilled vegetables, as well as legumes.
WHO CAN CONTRACT
The winery was founded by D. Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga in 1858. Marqués de Riscal bottled its first wines in 1862, so it is the oldest wine bottled in Rioja. In the early twentieth century they incorporated the golden mesh to their bottles, as a guarantee of quality to prevent counterfeiting. In 1972 Marqués de Riscal began producing white wines in Rueda, and shortly afterwards introduced the sauvignon blanc variety in this area. In 1986 it began to produce Baron de Chirel, wines in the style of the new era of Rioja. In 2000 they took a step into the future with the construction of the San Vicente winery and, with it, came wine tourism. In 2006 La Ciudad del Vino was inaugurated, an architectural complex with the hotel designed by the famous Canadian architect Frank O. Gehry. And in 2015 a unique tasting of 114 vintages from the private Marqués de Riscal collection took place with industry professionals from around the world.
