TASTING NOTE
Colour

Clean and bright Red color with ruby highlights. Medium layer intensity. Very nice to look at.

AROMA:

Entrance of aromas where the flowers are expressed with an unmistakable explosion, precisely the violet. Touches of cherry where it merges with a very nice background after spice and with the most elegant touch of wood. Infinitely nice.

TASTE:

On the palate, high and pronounced acidity, where the most effective and intensive tannins are perceived, medium-bodied, structured and with a level of broad and very decent balance. All wrapped in an exceptional elegance. Very long and persistent. With an evolution in bottle more than assured.

MATCHING
Ideal for medium to high taste dishes. It could go perfectly by the hand of a duck Magret with red fruit sauce.
WHO CAN CONTRACT
The modern viticultural history of our beloved Burgundy could be counted through the intergenerational epic of the Dugat-Py dynasty. Everything starts in the middle of the 17th century in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. 13 generations succeed each other, passing on the same knowledge to the vineyard as to the winery. It was in the 1970s that the estate began to bottle its production and the consecration did not take long. It is a certain Charmes-Chambertin 1972 which wins the prize of the Golden Cup then awarded by Alexis Lichine in person. It is simply voted as the best grand cru of the year. In 1975, Bernard Dugat joined the family estate. Current owner and soul of the estate, he and his wife form a brilliant couple. Her maiden name PY, will give the new entity of the property in 1994. Today, their son Loïc gradually takes responsibility for the estate. It infuses the vines with a decisive change by carrying out the first tests in biological culture on the climate of the Cœur du Roy in Gevrey-Chambertin. In 2003, the entire estate is certified with some parcels worked on the horse. But it is in the vineyard that Domaine Dugat-Py really gets the quintessence of his soul. Over the generations, the genetic heritage of the vineyard has considerably enriched and strengthened thanks to effective mass selections. The result is a vineyard that has the distinction of having an average age of about 65 years. No chemistry at Dugat-Py, enrichment in organic matter is based on natural preparations. The care of the vines is permanent, the yields are low and the maturities are always well respected. The cellars are a jewel of architecture since all the wines of the Domaine are raised in the chaplaincy of the Abbey of Saint-Bénigne in Dijon, at the foot of the Combe de Lavaux dating from the nineteenth century. The barrel farms last on average between 18 and 24 months so that the wines are refined and softened. The Dugat-Py style is inimitable. Colorful, intense, rich and structured, these robust wines are cut in a pre-1970 style where the wines require a few years of storage in the cellar. Once mature, the juices of the property are imbued with a strong identity of the terroir with the frame and race of the entire harvest. The Dugat-Py succeed in this difficult exercise to reveal the complexity of each appellation while affirming a house style.
