WHO CAN CONTRACT
It occupies the most beautiful hills of Pauillac. In the first half of the seventeenth century buys Bordeaux parliamentarian Saubat de Pommiers and comes after at the hands of the Ségur family, lords of Lafite. Nicolas-Alexandre Segur, who is known as the Prince of Vines, became owner of Lafite, Latour, Mouton and Calon. When in 1755 Richelieu was appointed Governor of Guyenne, the former Aquitaine, he was consulting a Bordeaux doctor who prescribes Château Lafite wine as the best and most pleasant tonic. When him returns to Paris, Louis XV said to him that seems to have less 25 years and Richelieu replied that he had found in red wine of Lafite something comparable to the ambrosia of the gods of Olympus. Offer a few bottles the king, excited with them, makes him his favorite wine and soon in the whole court. Arrives in 1784 at the hands of Pierre de Pichard, president of the parliament of Bordeaux, who died on the guillotine on 30 June 1794. Lafite is confiscated and become a nation well, for a few years changed ownership several times, which does not influence wine quality. In 1868 Château Lafite was bought by the Baron James de Rothschild and actually is in the hands of his heirs. Since 1975, manages Eric de Rothschild.
